Blessing Of A Child To Obtain For It The Mercy Of God

V. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R. Who has made heaven and earth.

V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with your spirit.

Let us pray.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of the living God,
You have said: “Let the little children come to me,
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Pour the power of Your blessing upon this child.
Have regard for the faith and devotedness
of the Church and of its parents.
Grant that,
growing in virtue and wisdom before God and man,
it may live to a desirable old age
and attain to eternal life,
who live and are King for ever and ever.

PSALM 112

Praise, you servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord
both now and forever.
From the rising to the setting of the sun
is the name of the Lord to be praised.
High above all nations is the Lord;
above the heavens is his glory.
Who is like the Lord, our God, who is enthroned
on high and looks upon the heavens and the earth below?
He raises up the lowly from the dust;
from the dunghill he lifts up the poor
To place him with princes, with the princes of his people.
He makes the childless mother live in a household,
as the happy mother of its children.
Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
